2.0 Battle of Bukit Candu

The Royal Malay Regiment prepare for battle.

13th February 1942, Lt. Gen. Renya Mutaguchi leads a very strong army to overtake the place. However they had to retreat since Lt. Adnan and his platoon defended the area very well. After that, Adnan and co. built a gap on the higher area so that they can defend the territory and it is prove that the gap give more difficulties to the Japanese army although they are too many than the Kompeni C.

The fortess at Bukit Candu still exists today.

That night on 13th February, they had been ordered to move for the new base – Pt. 226, Bukit Candu. There are more many soldiers been ordered to support Kompeni C leads by Lt. Adnan Saidi. 42 soldiers including Adnan was the overall number of the Royal Malay Regiment defended at that hill. Adnan ordered his platoon to strengthen the fortress with sandbag around the hill.

Evening of 14th February, the Japanese tried to use trick to disguise as the British-Indian Army that called the Sikh soldier. However, Adnan noticed the differences between the fake and the real one. The real Sikh soldier always march in a group of three people rather than four that being done by the Japanese army. Adnan and his squadron shot the enemies and almost 20 of them died instantly. Thus, make the Japanese retreat for a while.
