6.0 Moral Values



This event show many important things for us to be caution on. To defend our beloved country, we must be brave and never surrender although we been outnumbered or etc. Our new generations must be followed Lt. Adnan footstep to show the enemy that we are not coward and easy to bully.

  To remember Adnan Saidi brave effort and the epic battle at the hill, a World War II interpretive centre called Reflections at Bukit Chandu was built developed and managed by the National Archives of Singapore, located on Bukit Chandu (Opium Hill) off Pasir Panjang Road in Singapore. It was officially opened by Dr Tony Tan (then Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence) on 15 February 2002.

  Besides, the Malaysians also do some contribution to remember his effort. A film title Leftenan Adnan directed by Aziz M. Osman release in 2000 screened during the Independence Day of Malaysia. The role of Adnan Bin Saidi play by Hairie Othman and the film got positive reviews from the audiences.

4.0 Aftermath

  After the defeated of Lt. Adnan and his platoon, General A. E. Percival orders the British army to surrender. The Japanese succeed on their mission to overtake the place. However, the japanese own the places just for a few years till the United State bom Hiroshima and Nagasaki thus ended the World War II. They agree to surrender in August 1945.


3.0 Tragic Death





  Two hour later, the battle still continues at bukit Candu. All weapon been used such as, hand bomb and automatic rifle. Lt. Adnan handled a machine gun type ‘Lewis Gun’. Lastly, The Japanese launched big massive attacks to conquer the area. Adnan and his Kompeni C defeated because of less amount of army and ammunition compare to the Japanese. Although been outnumbered and defeated, they managed to kill almost 800 Japanese troops.

  Corporal Yaakob, one of the survivors in that war saw how tragic the death of Adnan bin Saidi. Yaakob survived when he pretend lied beside his ally dead bodies. The braveness of Lt. Adnan make the Japanese angry thus tied Adnan upside down to a Cherie tree on that hill. Then, they savagely bayonet him to death and lastly cut his throat to end his life. This is the end of a brave Malaya hero who protects his beloved country from the colonizer.
