1.1 Education
Sekolah
Melayu Sungai Ramal, Kajang is where he taken his lessons in English stream. He
is a hardworking and excellent student in that school. After that, he work
almost a year as a teacher trainee before consider to applying the Malay
Regiment.
1.2 Family
He
was born as Adnan Bin Saidi at Kampung Sungai Ramal, Kajang, Selangor in 1915.
He was the eldest child in his family. Two of his siblings, Ahmad Saidi and
Amarullah Saidi both were soldiers. Ahmad Saidi who was a navy died during his
duty when his ship, HMS Pelanduk was sunk by the Japanese during their journey
to Australia in 1939. Meanwhile, Amarulla Saidi was still alive to this day
since he had survived the war and currently he resides in Kajang. He was
married to Sophia Pakih Muda, an Islamic religious teacher in his village. They
had two sons, Mokhtar and Zainudin and also a daughter, who died after the
birth. Nowadays, only Mokhtar who still live and working as a taxi driver
somewhere nearby Seremban. Meanwhile, some said that Zainudin, a retired
soldier died and his family currently resides in Johor.
1.3 Entering
Malay Regiment
In
1933, Adnan who aged 18 years old started his duty in Royal Malay Regiment. One year
after he was chose as the best recruit among his squadron. Two year afterward
in 1936, he was ranked as Sergeant. He was the youngest who ever achieved the
Sergeant rank at such a young age. He was one of the chosen one for celebrating
King George VI event that held at London in 1937. Soon afterward he was once
again ranked up as Kompeni-Sarjan-Major and been sent to Singapore for
training. After finishing the training, as a ‘Leftenan Muda’ he was appointed as
the leader of seventh platoon, Kompeni C.
